Finlex D&O & Cyber Market Report 2023

This year, Finlex once again analyses the market situation of D&O and cyber insurance. Thanks to Finlex’s cooperation with many insurers, the Market Report offers a complete overview of the current situation and the emerging and expected trends.

The German economy continued to find itself in a difficult environment this summer. Geopolitical tensions continued, monetary tightening by numerous central banks was and continues to be felt everywhere and the global economic situation remained weak. Although there were initial signs of stabilisation in industrial production, the still weak global demand and subdued domestic sales prospects continued to stand in the way of a stronger recovery. In particular, value added in the energy-intensive sectors was and still is declining despite the fall in energy prices, which may be partly due to weak foreign demand. Another factor that increasingly affected economic development towards autumn was the rise in interest rates, which dampened investment. The interest-rate-sensitive construction industry in particular felt significant declines in demand as a result of higher interest rates.

D&O Market Report

After the marked hardening of the market in recent years, the mood is now brightening. But: In connection with new regulatory requirements, new liability risks for managers are emerging again.

Cyber Market Report

A similar picture is emerging in the cyber insurance market: the market is much more balanced than in the turbulent previous years. In addition, companies are increasingly recognising their responsibility to comprehensively secure their IT.
